Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
UHURU is a voice-activated wellness beverage system that reads biometric data from your connected wearables to deliver personalized recovery nutrition. We built UHURU with privacy as a core design principle — your body data is yours, and we treat it accordingly. This policy explains exactly what we collect, what we don’t, and why.
Introduction
UHURU (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the UHURU beverage system, companion mobile application, and related services. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information when you use our products and services.
By using UHURU, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the system.
What We Collect
We collect the minimum data required to deliver personalized wellness beverages. Specifically:
- Recovery context — what your body needed at the time of a dose (e.g., “low HRV recovery after high-strain day”). This is a summary, not raw biometric data.
- Effect outcomes — how your recovery metrics changed after consuming a Loop cartridge, used to improve future dosing accuracy.
- Account basics — email address and name for account management and communication.
- Device pairing info — which wearable devices are connected (e.g., Oura Ring, Whoop) so we can read data correctly.
Key distinction: We store what was needed and what happened after — never the raw biometric readings themselves.
What We Don’t Collect
We believe in drawing a clear line. UHURU does not collect:
- Raw biometric data (HRV readings, heart rate, sleep stages, skin temperature)
- GPS or location data
- Contacts or address book information
- Browsing history or app usage analytics
- Microphone recordings (voice commands are processed on-device and never transmitted)
- Any personal data beyond what the recovery protocol requires
How Data Is Processed
When you request a beverage, UHURU reads biometric data from your connected wearables (Oura, Whoop, Apple Health, etc.) in real-time. Here’s what happens next:
- Read — biometric signals (HRV, sleep score, strain) are pulled from your wearable’s API.
- Calculate — on-device agents analyze the data and determine the optimal Loop cartridge dose.
- Delete — raw biometric data is immediately discarded after the dose is calculated. It is never written to our servers.
- Store context only — a lightweight recovery summary and subsequent effect outcome are retained to improve your future results.
Data processing happens on-device via on-board agents whenever possible. Your raw health data stays on your hardware.
Data Retention
Raw biometric data has a retention period of zero. It is read, used for a calculation, and immediately deleted — never stored on any UHURU server or cloud infrastructure.
Recovery context and effect outcome data is retained for as long as you maintain an active UHURU account, as it directly improves the accuracy of your dosing over time. You may request deletion of this data at any point (see Your Rights below).
Payment Information
UHURU supports FSA/HSA-eligible payments for Loop cartridge subscriptions and hardware purchases. All payment processing is handled by a certified third-party payment processor.
UHURU never stores credit card numbers, bank account details, or FSA/HSA card information on our servers. We receive only a transaction confirmation (amount, date, status) needed to fulfill your order.
Your Rights
You have full control over your data:
- Access — request a copy of all recovery context and effect data we hold about you.
- Deletion — request deletion of all stored effect and context data at any time. We will process your request within 30 days.
- Portability — export your data in a standard machine-readable format.
- Disconnect — revoke wearable device connections at any time through the UHURU app.
- Opt out — disable effect tracking entirely, though this may reduce dosing personalization over time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].
Third Parties
We do not sell your data to third parties. Ever.
We integrate with wearable platforms (Oura, Whoop, Apple Health, Garmin) solely to read biometric signals for dosing. We do not share your UHURU data back to these platforms or any other third party.
Our payment processor receives only the transaction data necessary to process your purchase. They are contractually bound to use this data solely for payment processing.
Children’s Privacy
UHURU is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the UHURU app or via email. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your data.
